Downtown Anoka, MN is a great backdrop for senior photography sessions. The brick makes a beautiful and timeless backdrop for photos.
Congratulations, Emily on starting your senior year! Before you know it, you’ll be off to college or beginning your career. Even with all the selfies you have shared on Snapchat, your senior portraits are going to be the pictures you remember for the rest of your life. They will live for years on your parents’ walls and you will look back on them in your senior yearbook. Knowing all of that – I’m so happy to have gotten the honor to be your senior photographer!

Ellen’s Ready for Her closeup! This sweet toddler is going to break a lot of hearts someday!
Ellen had so many great faces! Her “Monster Face” was one of my favorites. But she was also ready to pose like a little lady ready to have her photo taken
Two year old, Ellen had a great time playing at the playground. She was happy to stop every once in a while so I could photograph her sweet smile.
Dad’s loving smile just melts my heart! He had as much fun as the kids did during the lifestyle portion of our photography shoot.
After a quick outfit change, Ellen looked ready for a party.
Ellen really stole the show at her family’s outdoor photography session at Ham Lake Park. This two year old sweetheart always had a smile ready for my camera and loved to have her photo taken. Along with family photos and sibling portraits taken with her brother Justin, we did some lifestyle photography at the the playground. It was great to capture Ellen having so much fun!

When you’re one, there’s nothing better than bubbles…. OR – if you’re a boy, a big bubble wand that’s just like a stick. Being a mom myself, I’m learning that all a little boy needs to feel like a king is a STICK.
Ham Lake Park is such a great space for children to let loose and have some fun. Justin stopped for a quick photo here but he was all set to take off again!
Justin’s ready for his closeup!
Justin was a ton of fun during his family’s outdoor photography session at Ham Lake Park. This one year old little guy was a bundle of energy and really came to life for the camera. Along with family photos and sibling portraits taken with his sister Ellen, we did some lifestyle photography at the the playground. It was great to capture Justin having so much fun!

It was a great day for outdoor family portraits in Ham Lake Park.
“Move over sis and let me in!” I can tell these two will grow up to be best friends! It was so cute to see Ellen and Justin snuggling close to have their sibling photo taken together. I just LOVE their outfits with the coordinating blues!
Even with a busy family, Mom and Dad steal away a sweet kiss for the camera.
So precious to get these Mother Daughter and Father Son photos!
Justin and Ellen had fun running off some energy at the playground!
I had such a great morning with Wendy, Matt and the kids doing a family photography session. With two kids that are two years and under, I’m sure there’s never a dull moment. But this family was fun, easy going and really enjoyed each other. After taking family photos and then formal portraits of the children, we hopped over to the playground at Ham Lake Park for some lifestyle photography shots. It was wonderful to see the family having fun with their outdoor photography session!

Morgan’s sweet smile out-shown the sun when she visited the backyard of our Ham Lake photography studio. We also got some great family photos with mom and even a few with Baby Emmett who also just celebrated his first birthday. What a wonderful afternoon…
Happy Birthday, Sunshine!

Event Photography – Minneapolis
On July 17th, I had the honor of being a small part of a great event at Saint Maron’s Church in North East Minneapolis. The event was to raise money for my husband’s uncle Tom. Tom was diagnosed with liver cancer a few months ago and his only shot at beating it was at the Mayo Clinic. Unfortunately, his medical insurance doesn’t cover treatment at that hospital, leaving Tom and his wife Teri with catastrophic medical bills. That’s where friends and family come in! Tom and Teri’s friends and family put on a huge benefit at Saint Maron’s church to raise money to help pay Tom’s bills. There was a great turnout. Guests had a delicious dinner and drinks, talked, laughed and had a great time – All while helping Tom & Teri. There was a silent auction, bucket raffles, a wine wall and more. As Tom later said: “The entire benefit was such a glorious celebration”. It truly was and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it.
Stay strong Tom! We’re praying for you.

Back at the beginning…. I love the trains. I love the noise. I love the city. I’m at the Palmer House Hotel, directly across from my old dorm on State Street. This is where my photography business was meant to begin several years ago. If you read my blog, you know that I started off as a photography student at the Art Institute of Chicago. It’s in the top 10 art schools in the country and I was lucky enough to gain acceptance even after a somewhat rocky high school career. I was off realizing my dream in an art career and photography was my medium. However – being an artist, a dreamer and firm believer in love at first site… I didn’t stay long! I fell in love three weeks before leaving for school so my passion was in another state, not in my work. I left a month later and as they say, the rest is history. Married the guy, had the kids, changed my stars.
Under the city scaffolding, it’s easy to get nostalgic for what would have been. But I’ve had a great life with a happy and healthy family. I am blessed. I have also had opportunities to design for both the web and print, get lost in code and strategize for digital marketing campaigns. Experiences that aren’t afforded to all photographers and come in handy if you want to run a successful business… So maybe I did take the path I was meant for. Maybe I’ve been on the road to Jacqueline Blake Photography all this time and didn’t even realize it. Just maybe, I have set myself up for success.
There’s nothing better than being barefoot in summer – especially if you’re a baby! This little one year old was happy to sit back and chill for his outdoor baby portrait photography session in Blaine.

OMG – I am so excited! Today I opened my mailbox and there was little brown package from Vistaprint. There was something about ordering my first box of Jacqueline Blake Photography business cards that made me feel really, truly official. Like I have arrived and I’m ready to play with the big girls. It’s even my design! I was so jazzed to flex some of my graphic design muscles – diving into Adobe PhotoShop sometimes feel meeting an old friend. This business adventure is truly giving a chance do what I love and I’m grateful for all the support I have had from my family, my friends and everyone who has let me in to capture some of their family’s precious moments.
Today is definitively a great day!
